Go through the above steps with the class. Have each pair double check to make sure 2. the hanger clips are in the correct position. 4. the lever arm is free to move easily with the addition of a single clip 6. the end of the lever arm has a mark with which they can easily line-up a marker on the vertical link. Students may wish to line the lever mark up with the top of the marker on the vertical link, the bottom of the marker, or a pencil mark on the marker. The important thing is that they can easily return to this position with a different number of clips at a different distance from the fixed pivot.
